Today marks the end of my first week. We have been finishing up a few lessons and getting ready for the art/music show in March. The third and fourth graders have been working on a Keith Haring inspired lesson about movement. Their teacher read them Keith Haring: I wish I didn't have to sleep and went over Edgar Degas dancers. They also learned about contrast and warm and cool colors. They are beginning to write a poem to go along with it, including verbs describing their paintings.

The first and second grade has been finishing their snow globes. Below is a picture of them on display with their gingerbread houses.

Student teaching

Thanks for visiting my website and blog. My name is Jessica Holske. I am 22 years old and beginning my journey as a student teacher in my local elementary school. My supervising practitioner is actually the art teacher I had in elementary school. I will be documenting my journey with lesson ideas and creative projects we're doing in the classroom. Below is the Crooked Man lesson, based off the nursey rhyme. We're doing it with the kingergarten and they're coming out fabulous! They're learning about polygons and how to use rulers. Also below is a picture of half of the art room. Mrs. Haven is lucky to have a large classroom!
