Kindergarten Butterflies

Kimmy Cantrell Faces

The students love working with clay! We talked about Picasso's and Cantrells faces and applying the additive and subtractive methods. After they were fired they used oil pastels and dipped the "rearranged faces" into watered down black India ink. I love the way they came out! I found this lesson elsewhere online - so glad I did! Check out Kimmy Cantrells website.

My Kindergarten students have been doing a fabulous job in Art! The get so excited over the Fairy Tales and Nursery Rhyme lessons. We read Old King Cole and created King/Queen Self Portraits. In the previous year during my student teaching the students made watercolor-resist castles. Then we added small "If I were king and Queen" people and mythological creatures. They loved this lesson! We finished the lesson with some creative writing. They students had to complete the sentence"If I were a King or Queen I would have my subjects_________________" There were some fun responses!
